Prevident Treatments in Columbus, Ohio

Merion Village Dentistry uses Prevident to help our patients fight chronic tooth decay, or to strengthen tooth enamel.

Prevident is a prescription-strength fluoridated toothpaste that is used once a day (preferably before bed) to help restore essential vitamins into the surface of weak, cavity-prone teeth.

Prevident is more effective than over-the-counter fluoride toothpaste in preventing tooth sensitivity.

Using Prevident allows patients to:

• Reverse areas with beginning stages of tooth decay
• Prevent white spots from developing around braces
• Combat sensitivity in weakened teeth
• Strengthen enamel throughout the mouth
• Extend the lifetime of restorations

At Merion Village Dental, we use Prevident during preventative care appointments to strengthen the weakened enamel of sensitive teeth. In some cases, we may prescribe an at-home dosage of flavored gel for continued use by our patients.

How should Prevident be used at home?

Prevident should be used to complement a normal routine of brushing and flossing. After your evening oral hygiene routine, apply a small, pea-sized amount of Prevident to your toothbrush and brush thoroughly. Do not rinse your mouth, but expectorate well to remove most of the gel. Do not eat or drink anything before going to bed, allowing the minerals to stay on the surface of your teeth as long as possible.
